In 2009, I was fortunate enough to co-produce the groundbreaking extreme sports film production, "The Fellowship of the Bearing," which revolutionized downhill skateboard filming. Alongside Patrick Weir and Roman Bamburin, we dedicated 13 months of intense filming sessions to capture every moment with stunning cinematography, crane shots, and multiple cameras at the biggest races and events. To properly capture the downhill skateboarding at that time we had to take calculated risks. It was before GoPro and before DJI Drones so getting that shot was not easy task. Our hard work and dedication paid off as we pieced together a revolutionary film that showcased Canada's best downhill skateboarders.

It was a collaborative effort, and I must give credit to other talented filmmakers who made the project possible, including the late Errol Lazarre, who helped set the project in motion with a crane shoot that Weir helped organize. By the time the shooting was over and the editing was complete, the Fellowship of the Bearing went on to tour the world, including a stop at the Banff Center Film Festival, and its stock footage was even featured on National Geographic.

To this day, I am humbled by the fact that skateboarders still mention how "The Fellowship of the Bearing" inspired them to go out and ride down hills. As the 15-year anniversary of the film approaches, there are rumors circulating about a new and improved edition, including never-before-seen interviews and bonus footage. I am proud to have been a part of a team that elevated the sport of downhill skateboarding and showcased the incredible talent of the Colabo team and the Coast Longboarding community, inspiring future generations of skaters.
